Motivating Our Kids on Speech!

说给你听，你肯定会忘；做给你看，你可能会有点感觉；

让你去经历和体验，你永远都不会忘记。

为了激发学生学习英语的热情，营造一个良好的英语学习氛围，为更多英语小达人们提供一个展现自己的舞台，在英语教学中心张东主任的带领和全体英语教师的指导下，大连枫叶小学英语演讲比赛在在多功能报告厅圆满举行。

In order to stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning English, to create a good atmosphere for English learning, and to provide a stage for more English lovers to show themselves. We held an English speech contest at Maple Leaf Elementary School. Under the guidance of Director Apple Zhang of the English Teaching Center and the guidance of all English teachers, the English speech contest was successfully held in the multi-media room.

教师们各自组队，亲自跟踪辅导自己队伍队员。比赛由主题演讲、即兴问答两个环节组成，每人时间均为两分钟。经过前期的海选及初赛阶段，共有26名学生入围决赛。

The teachers formed a team and personally tracked and helped their team members. The competition consists of two parts: prepared speech and impromptu question and answer. Each person takes two minutes. After the first round of competition, 26 students went to the final round.

比赛中，参赛选手个个精神饱满，激情洋溢，流利的口语，幽默的表达，得体的身体语势，充分展现了同学们较强的语言应用及临场应变能力，赢得了观众的阵阵掌声，现场气氛十分活跃。

During the competition, the contestants were full of energy, passionate, humorous. They fully demonstrated the students' strong language application and on-the-spot resilience, and won the applause of the audience.

英语教学中心张主任在点评中对参赛选手的精彩表现赞叹不已，她认为学习英语最重要的就是“坚持”，希望同学们在接下来的英语学习中坚持不懈，掌握这门语言。

In the comments, Director Apple Zhang of the English Teaching Center praised the contestants for their wonderful performances. She believed that the most important thing to learn English is “Persistence”. Perseverance is not a long race; it is many short races one after another.
